BB: What types of detoxifying foods should we be nourishing ourselves with since the seasons are transitioning?
The spring season is a natural time of detoxification for everyone. Ayurveda teaches to favor a lower calorie diet with more pungent (heating spices such as cayenne pepper, black pepper and cinnamon) to stimulate metabolism and break up accumulations in the digestive tract.
We should be favoring chlorophyll rich foods (algeas, leafy greens) for cleansing heavy metals from the blood, root teas (burdock and dandelion) for cleansing the liver and blood.
