My Favorite Anti-Bloat & Detox Support Tonic

This is one of my favorite tonics to make at the end of the day before a big night out or an event to deflate myself if I’m feeling bloated. 

It’s a simple concoction of:

+ Apple cider vinegar

+ Water

+ Ginger

+ Lemon

+ Coconut nectar 

Apple cider vinegar, specifically organic raw ACV, may have a slew of benefits. These nutritional benefits stem from the vinegar’s compounds such as its enzymes, probiotics, and acetic acid. When it comes to our gut and helping us deflate, the acetic acid helps flush out bad bacteria all while promoting the strength of good bacteria. ACV also acts as a detoxification tonic to help support the function of your lymphatic system and liver. Also, a study in the Journal of Diabetes Care discovered that ACV could help promote weight loss when consumed.

Ginger as many know help with digestive issues such as nausea and upset stomach. You will find ginger as a main ingredient in many homeopathic motion sickness remedies. A substance gingerol is the main compound in ginger which accounts for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Drinking ginger tea alone is known to have a positive impact on those experiencing bloating (and gas, not pretty to talk about but just being real). 

Lemon is one of my favorite ingredients when it comes to fighting belly bloat. Lemon when mixed with water acts as a natural diuretic causing you to urinate more frequently throughout the day, and many people claim that it also slightly helps curb cravings as well, especially salty food. It also has a slight alkaline effect on our bodies. 

Coconut nectar has been recently on my radar as it acts as a vegan option for those who want to add a bit of sweetness to their concoction.  Coconut nectar is essentially the sap from the coconut tree and is low glycemic, and is not produced in extremely high temperatures like some agave syrups.

So all you need to do is:

+ Take 1 8oz glass of *warm* water and pour it into a 16 or 20 oz water bottle

+ Add 1oz shot of apple cider vinegar

+ Add juice from 1/2 a lemon

+ Add 1/2 tsp of ground ginger

+ Mix together all of the ingredients in the water bottle, sip and enjoy!
