BB: We should take on a mission to make consumers more aware that not one diet fits all – let’s do it! Speaking of fit, what are your top five tips for maintaining a healthy weight?
F: (1) No food is off limits – deprivation leads to overindulging.
(2) I don’t keep crap in the house – if it isn’t in front of my face it can’t entice me.
(3) I engage in physical activities I enjoy – I look forward to running, spinning and strength training sessions with my trainer. Working out shouldn’t be dreaded or used as a punishment for overeating.
(4) I pack my lunch – to be in control. There are too many instances where you can veer off track if you rely on cafeteria food or takeout meals.
(5) I am a mindful eater – if a certain food makes me feel like garbage (French fries) I reflect back on that sensation the next time I am tempted to make the same poor choice.
J: (1) Prepare the majority of your own meals at home.
(2) Set yourself up for success by always having healthy foods accessible in the home and on-the-go.
(3) Find the right kind of exercise for you and practice it daily.
(4) Eat REAL food: What do I mean by real food? Think fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans, legumes, whole grains AND high quality animal protein. Not highly processed foods that can live at the bottom of your purse for months at a time.
(5) Make room in your life for indulgences: No one eats perfectly all the time, and that’s ok! It’s important to enjoy the occasional treat and not let it throw your whole diet off.
