I’m one of those women that drink copious amounts of water a day. I’m sipping water with lemon before my coffee, I have 3-4 16 oz glasses before lunch, so I’m happily sipping anywhere between 2 to 3 liters a day. I have a huge obsession with this simple health hack. It obviously keeps me hydrated, maintains a healthy gut and digestive system (to be frank,  staying hydrated  keeps you from getting backed up), and has a slew of additional health benefits.

Sometimes though, I get bored with drinking plain old water. So – I’ve been infusing it with simple additives like lemon juice, mint, cucumber and more. To take it a step further, I’ve now started experimenting with herbal infusions to turn my daily beverages into drinkable beauty skincare shots. After learning about the new trend of drinkable beauty products, I figured I could replicate similar results at home!

Like tea, herbal infusions are simple to make. The benefits from your herb of choice easily releases all of its antioxidants and minerals when steeped in hot water. I like to get creative and add infusions to my daily juices and smoothies too, so the sky is the limit! Not only do herbal infusions have major beauty benefits, you can use herbal infusions (like tea) for many wellness purposes. Yet today I’m just focusing on using infusions for the sole purpose of maintaining our beauty from the inside out! So to help you maintain healthy skin all year long, I’m sharing my favorite drinkable beauty skincare shot remedy below!

My Favorite Drinkable Beauty Skincare Shot – Collagen Boosting Sea Buckthorn Berry Infusion

The drinkable beauty skincare shot on my radar in the beauty and wellness industry right now is drinkable collagen. Collagen is a major player in keeping our skin looking youthful. It’s a protein that maintains a strong bond between connective tissues.. As we get older, our collagen levels start to slow down, which then causes signs of aging.

Studies have shown that consuming collagen peptide drinks could actually improve the appearance of our skin in eight weeks! So with that said my friends, it’s time to brew up some collagen boosting water infusions.  If you’re also curious about this type of drinkable beauty skincare shot, and what’s on  the market for collagen benefits, you can check out some top picks here.

The herbal star of this infusion is sea buckthorn oil which is extracted from the seeds of the berry. Sea buckthorn oil has major collagen boosting benefits because of its antioxidant, vitamin and mineral profile. I will most likely compose a near future article discussing sea buckthorn in more detail, but for now you can learn more about it here from the Journal of Ethnopharmacology.

Additional ingredients in this infusion also contain collagen producing properties. For example the Vitamin C in the orange and tangerine is a key player in collagen production. Another ingredient, rosemary, is not only a great flavor that’s added to my infusion, but it may also contain skin health benefits from its antioxidant profile.

Today I’m keeping things easy for you if you’re a first time herbal tonic drinker. Instead of steeping dried berries in water (which adds extra steps to the remedy), I’m using sea buckthorn berry oil and adding drops to the infusion instead. Easy as pie!
