BB: How long have you been leading this healthy lifestyle, was there a time in your life that inspired a lifestyle change?
I was lucky enough to grow up on a small farm in Vermont where we grew our own produce, raised animals, milked our cows and gathered fresh eggs. Because of this, the principles of local and organic foods are in my blood. After graduating from college, and moving into my own apartment, I really started to get interested in cooking. As my passion for cooking grew, I also started to become more interested in understanding nutrition and the incredible capacity to heal through food.
For me, this was more than purely an academic pursuit. Unfortunately, I have suffered from digestive troubles for much of my life. I began seeking natural remedies and alternative diets to support my digestion and ease my discomfort. As I gained confidence in the kitchen, I transitioned my diet to whole foods, ate naturally fermented foods, added in supportive herbs, and limited my animal protein. These adjustments resulted in very positive changes in my digestion and overall health! Experiencing this healing through food myself inspired me to share my passion with others looking for natural, safe, and effective ways to take control of their health.
