Balanced Babe is all about sharing women’s stories, interviewing industry experts, hearing from physicians, practitioners, and dietitians on how living holistically can bring some major benefits, and little action items that can be utilized NOW! As I’m thinking about new topics, I realized that I never really talk about what is going on in my own world. I know it’s because I wan’t Balanced Babe to be more of a digital outlet and multi-media site than a blog, but I think it would be nice for readers to start putting a face to the name more. Since I pretty much live, eat, and breathe my work, I think it would be interesting to share what is happening behind the scenes week to week! So .. I’m starting “editors notes”. Let’s see how this goes.
Who does not love cupcakes and flowers?! I mean, seriously, I know this is a healthy website and all..but it’s OK to have cupcakes once in a while. I produced and managed a fun networking event for one of my clients recently that was all about connecting women in Chicago. We had vegan manicures set up, fun makeup applications, Leaf Vodka & Social Enjoyments drinks, and delish food.
One of my favorite meal delivery services in Chicago, KitchFix, also provided kale salad and these KICK ASS cashew yogurt cups. Everyone loved em – and I even got my own container of yogurt to bring home (thanks Bridget!). Anyway, besides the fabulous drinks and food, we had an executive business coach, relationship + dating coach, and entrepreneur lead a fun discussion about personal growth strategies for 2015. Can’t wait to produce my next event! P.S. – for those of you who don’t know – my biz is called StyleBodySoul, LLC – a holistic communications, lifestyle, and business consulting company.
I was invited to try out Lyfe Kitchen in River North and was blown away by their vegan menu offerings and their line of chia juices and smoothies! AMAZE I say. It’s not technically word but I’m just throwin’ it out there. I tried their curry dish, mushroom flat bread (gluten free, folks), probably 5 smoothies and juices, guacamole, sweet potato fries and a cookie (which is not shown because I ate it immediately upon arrival). This is definitely going to be my new lunch + dinner spot. They even serve wine a beer – hellooo Friday night plans.
I also got a special delivery from The Purple Carrot which is a plant based meal delivery service. I made nut butter, coconut and chocolate raw bars (which again I couldn’t photograph because I got too excited and ate them immediately), an Asian quinoa bowl, and a bean + tomato burrito recipe. I made the Asian quinoa bowl which is shown below and it was definitely appetizing. I would totally use Purple Carrot again to save time on grocery shopping and figuring out a meal plan.
To round out the week, I was invited to attend a creative and artistic health event produced by Klick Health, called MUSE. It was catered by Girl & The Goat (which I’m obsessed with), and their keynote speakers included extremely inspirational individuals such as Adrianne Haslet, a professional ballroom dancer that lost a leg in the Boston Marathon bombing, Dr. Eisenberg and more.
