Hi Balanced Babes! My name is Laura Fine and I am the founder of Fit Running Mama. Fit Running Mama was started up in December of 2013. It’s been a fun and wonderful journey. Throughout the journey I have grown in so many ways! Fit Running Mama has made me step outside of my comfort zone and engage with the blogging world. It’s been a truly amazing experience and I met so many wonderful people and have learned so much!
BB: In addition to running the site, you’re also a certified fitness instructor and fitness nutrition specialist. What inspired you to add these credentials?
I started out in my on my journey to be a personal trainer a couple of months before beginning my blog. However, my passion is not just fitness. Professionally, I am special educator and have been working with children and adults with disabilities for over 15 years. Becoming a personal trainer and a fitness nutrition specialist has allowed me to do so much more. I enjoy doing personal trainer and nutritional support for families and individuals with special needs. It’s been an amazing experience and journey!
BB Why did you decide to teach Tabata boot camp? What makes it different and how does it help women with their weight loss?
I use Tabata as one of my “tricks” in my tool bag for clients. I do not teach classes for it but believe in interval training for everyone! It’s an amazing an effective way to get the heart rate going and maintain high levels of fitness.
BB: What’s your best tip for busy moms trying to stay fit?
Always make time for YOU! There is always time to squeeze in a quick morning or evening workout. Taking time for you makes you a better person!
BB: If we could peek into your fridge and pantry, what would we find?
Lots of real food! Plenty of fruits and veggies that are in season! So right now you would find lots of apples and brussels sprouts (MY FAVORITE!) I enjoy grocery shopping and have my favorite stores for my favorite items. I do a lot of label reading because I believe that knowledge is power and we need to be aware of what we put in our bodies.
BB: You feature lots of yummy recipes on the site! What’s one of your favorite easy and healthy meals?
I love my crock pot soups! In face if you were to ask me what my favorite kitchen “toy” is I would tell you that it’s my crock pot. Especially now that I am 30 weeks pregnant! We have a busy house and we are always on the run and as much as I would love to have more time in the kitchen, it’s just not real. I spend a few hours on Sunday to meal prep for the week and love making lots of large batches of soup! Especially now since the weather is cold! Here are two of my favorite crock pot recipes: Chickpea and veggies quinoa soup, and crock pot chopped veggie quinoa Soup.
BB: Where do you see Fit Running Mama going in the future? Any big goals you’d like to accomplish? Fit Running Mama has always been a fun and unique way to for me to blog about food, fitness and family! I love looking back at old posts, especially the ones about my daughter! I’ve met people over the years who have been readers of my blog and they say they love that my blog is real. I’m not a food photographer and often my recipes aren’t pretty and I am OK with that. I’m a busy mom and I am real! Fit Running Mama will always be real. |
