The weather is getting warmer, the sun’s shining a bit longer, and it seems as if we aren’t going to be looking back at winter moving forward (knock on wood). As we shift into the upcoming spring equinox, many of us Chicagoan’s are looking for ways to spring clean our mind body and soul. So this week’s list of healthy things to do in Chicago will help you shed some dead skin cells, get back on your healthy eating bandwagon, and get your bod prepared for near future warmer weather!
If you work, live, or love to spend time in West Loop, there’s a new health conscious grab and go spot that recently opened up called Square Roots Kitchen. They embrace the never ending trend towards technology and provide customers a completely mobile ordering platform (although don’t worry, robots aren’t making your meals…yet). It’s an ideal lunch spot that boasts healthier menu options like salads, wraps, and bowls that can be customized to your hearts desire. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or paleo – there’s something for you.
A new Juice RX opened a new spot in Lincoln Park on Halsted in February and I have yet to check it out but I’ve been a customer for years! My absolute faves are their nut milks though – FLIPPIN YUM!
In preparation for more sunshine, Exhale Spa is now offering after sun facials for when we soak up just a bit too many UV rays or if we just can’t wait for more sun and jet off to a tropical destination. You’ll indulge in a facial massage, special light therapy to minimize sun damage and spots, and a customized mask. I also love lounging in their spa waiting area – filled with plush throws, comfy chairs, and dowsed in natural light.
One place that I’ve been meaning to check out for like…a year, is still on my list! Chill Chicago is a super zen holistic space that offers meditation classes, meditation + yoga classes, and massage. I paid them a visit to get a massage and have been wanting to go back to try out a meditation class. They have a super “cool girl”, minimalist vibe and a fun little retail area with all sorts of wellness trinkets.
Another semi new spot in Wicker Park that focuses on waxes/threading has a spa neatly tucked away in the back called Reishi Beauty. I had a divine facial by Evelina (definitely recommend her if you pay them a visit) and she used all natural ingredients on my skin that also smelled SO GOOD. I don’t know about you but I’m all about scents when it comes to spa services. She also sends you a very detailed and useful email after your appointment to suggest lifestyle shifts/natural products/ and other tips to help you maintain a glowing complexion.
