Ready to book your weekend getaway in Chicago? Traveling to the Windy City doesn’t have to be jam packed with eating burgers, deep dish pizza, and boozy evenings. It’s about time that I start dishing out on all of the health-conscious activities there is to do in my hometown.
So it only makes sense that we’ll start some healthy weekend guides highlighting my favorite wellness spots around the city, starting with where to stay when you come to town to visit (*if you want to keep up your health kick*).
I enjoyed a very *balanced stay-cation at the Sofitel Hotel Chicago recently as they are becoming more aware of the popularity of wellness offerings. What exactly are we talkin’ bout?
- Healthier De-Light menu options at their restaurant
- A super luxurious and fully equipped SoFit gym
- Healthy snacks delivered to your room upon request
- Access to wellness partners like Fleet Feet (more on them in a bit)
The Sofitel is luxury brand that provides a highly tailored experience for guests when it comes to the art of wellness. The De-Light menu is created for those who have an appreciation for gastronomy and innovative techniques but want to focus on eating whole foods, and eliminating processed ingredients.
During your stay you can experience a delectable breakfast with offerings such as the homemade vegetable cocktail which is a concoction of carrot, cucumber, spinach and melon; a granola and berry parfait, steel cut oatmeal, and they even have the option to order grapefruit with passion fruit yogurt. One morning though after a particularly long run, I did decide to splurge and get some turkey sausage and crisp potatoes with my omelette — it’s all about balance after all.
The SoFIT gym also boasts personalized programs that will revitalize your workout routine and cutting-edge equipment so that you can crush a total body workout.
The rooms are also extremely spacious with an abundance of natural light and exceptionally soft beds with French style elements. The design throughout the entire hotel is elegant and contemporary, so you feel as if you’ve stepped foot into a pristine French manor.
I also was able to get a personalized fitting for new running shoes at Fleet Feet (since I’m a new lover of running, I try to run 3 miles a day). Fleet Feet partnered up with Sofitel to provide guests with a destination to stock up on running or fitness gear while in town. The location is not too far from the hotel – and the staff there is highly trained to know what type of gym shoe is best for you depending on your activity level, and how your feet are structured. It’s pretty neat.
So for all you health conscious travelers out there looking for a high-end hotel to cater to your holistic lifestyle, Sofitel is the destination to book. An added bonus is that it’s in the heart of the city and literally a walk anywhere you need to go. Whether it’s to River North to experience Chicago’s nightlife, or a stroll around Gold Coast for some high end shopping, everything is just a few steps away.
